Shapes of a Bow Tie.
Here are some tie shapes and their names both popular and unpopular.
- Butterfly A and B.
- Batwing slim and large.
- Butterfly/Batwing.
- One side skin Batwing
- Round bow tie.
How to tie a bow tie - no matter the shape.
Place the tie flat around your neck like you would a normal tie but with the right side between 1.5-2 inches longer than the left.
Bring the longer end across the shorter end.
Cross the longer end under the shorter end and hold to form a loose knot. Not too tight.
While holding the longer side , fold the shorter end into a bow and hold lightly. Make sure it's well aligned with your neck. If possible try to use a mirror as you tie your bow tie. You don't want to leave any loose ends.
Bring the longer side over the midpoint of the shorter end(bow), but don't pull all the way through, leave a loop behind the bow.
Now form a bow with the longer end of the tie and hold in place.
After you bring the longer end across and forming the bow, take it underneath the shorter through the loop behind it (from left to right).
Now pull both ends to tighten the knot. Pull the front left and back right section to tighten, and the front right and back left end apart to loosen. Not too tight, and just right for enough breathing space.
Finally look into the mirror, adjust your tie and rate your work!
